Our Story

Galvanized by the Bay Area jazz and soul scene, The Bricoleurs revive rare groove gems, reimagine bebop and hard bop classics, and showcase the cutting edge compositions of contemporary jazz artists. In the classic jazz organ trio format, the collective delivers authentic, jet-age sounds, and creates a range of grooves, from swing, to second-line, to sixteenth-note funk. No tune is out of bounds.

Formed in June of 2015 by drummer Jared Baird (The GLP, Miss Hix & the Superthicks) the collective includes Portland-based guitarist, René Planchon (Takka Takka, Le Firm), B-3 badass, Brian Ho (Calvin Keys Quartet, Lorca Hart Trio), and--sometimes--grammy-winner Tony Peebles (Pacific Mambo Orchestra, Katchafire). Equally at home in restaurants, clubs, and special events, the collective makes tasteful, funky, improvisational music for the connoisseur and the jazz neophyte.
